Threadiverse tends to not like even soft critiques of psych. For some reason ahah.
I once said a problem with mainstream psychiatry as practiced by the average practitioner is it can end up pathologising structural issues as individual problems to be blamed on the individual. And I got downvoted??
If the gaping, insatiable, self-serving maw of modern humankind imposes that systemic expectation on you... Be like Cap'n Crunch & shred that palate until it learns to respect the lifeblood, the prols, The Belt, et al.
I wasn't aware humankind had ten armies for fingers and love that's oil and stone, etc. I was under the impression that was some other kind of thing that we made, which is not a person.
My girlfriend isn't all that kinky. So, the first time I asked her to try it, I was surprised by how quickly she put her foot down and called it disgusting. I fell in love right then and there.
Yes, especially for authority based anxiety. Mayve literally tasting the maybe literal fruits of exploiting the blind spots and weaknesses of a system like, for example, wal mart and all the law enforcement infrastructure supposedly at its command, can make that empowerment very physically viscerally real. Feeling the glass shatter under your whatever and knowing you did that is hard not to feel and remember.
If you dont fight back, you are sick. Literally not mentally well.
I can't tell if this is just a joke, but Yep! Depending on the person and circumstances ofc. It can be very empowering and liberating
For me, it helped me not worry about how I'm perceived by others; to feel like I have some level of control over my life, and a voice in my community; to kill the cop in my head and allow me to live authentically; to confront/challenge authority with courage; to trust myself and have confidence
Ah okay that makes sense lol. Well to directly answer that part- I've used it with multiple clients with great success, and I actually put a more polished version of the image on my PsychologyToday profile, but also it's mostly just supposed to be funny lol
Oh cool. This seems really valid to me, but it's always extra important to be skeptical about things that you want to be true. I'm really glad to hear this has been successful for you.
I've been seeing your posts around a lot lately. Thanks for the quality content!

Well obviously. The structure cannot fail; only be failed.

That's fair as it shows a fundamental misunderstanding.
Mainstream psychiatry as practiced by the average practitioner is happy to leave blame to children and christians.
The focus on personal autonomy and what can be changed can look blame I guess. Not the same thing.

Something about your syntax makes the specifics cloudy. Can you rephrase?

Because I have no idea what this has to do with cock and ball torture

Me either 🤷

What does this have to do with cock and ball torture?
otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 350d
Have you tried CBT?

I have, it's wild!

Try it with a boyfriend, then. The cock & balls are kinda clutch, so make sure someone brings those.

I used to recommend this.
Especially when the anxiety is rooted in trauma from authority figures or anxiety about the totalizing image these systems try to present.
I find the sorts of people who need it most can't, because they're owned little bitches (that's a technical term, check the icd).

Is this a logo of trans anarchist vegans?
TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 349d
Yep! I designed it myself years ago for a tattoo, and now it's part of my therapy practice logo

I hate that there are two spaces between "function" and "as". Otherwise solid message
TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 349d
Fixed! Leaving the original up though, bc there's a lot of comments about cock and ball torture, and those won't make sense with the new wording

Beautiful! Love how you also adjusted your logo, looks much cleaner now.
Also, if you didn't know, you can edit your post and just replace the old image link with the new one. No need to delete the old post!Edit: Ignore that, my reading comprehension is lacking at 1 AM.

Thank you! I made the original version on my phone and was far from happy with it lol
TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 349d
Absolutely valid 😅 I accidentally made a typo and the quickest way to fix it was to paint over the "s" at the end of function(s)
I made a more polished version to replace it with, but haven't gotten around to it yet

Not a joke, I was actually curious if this is a real/evidence based statement or just something that sounds right.
I agree with the sentiment, just wasn't sure if this original post was a joke or something being said in earnest.
