Really neat! Usually, the average estimation process converges quite closely to the correct answer. I think you can notice that in the first guess!

that happens with some puzzles! a lot of the time the median will be on the low side

I've learned I'm not great at this game lol. I seemed to consistently guess really low across several different challenges

Me too, I just started adding 20% to my.initial guesses and going from there.
Got some right on by taking a section and counting then muktiplying by how many rough sections.
