Kinda fucking stupid how the war on drugs disproportionately affects poor people because poor people don't always have the means to do their drugs in private or "acceptable" settings.
It would be a good dose of karma if the kids from rich families who can do drugs without impunity had to suddenly face criminal charges like a poor person.
Maybe calling the cops isn't even necessary (they probably won't even show up, because cops). We could just record them doing drugs and submit that as evidence.

Nothing would be done about it

I think you're right. Even if the police did come out, the chances of arrest; charges being made and then; prosecution is slim if they 1) are rich enough that the police decide to NFA it due to internal politics, 2) the police deciding to NFA in case the person is friends, or perceived to be friends with city/council officials, or 3) have a half descent lawyer / barrister firm they have on retention.
As one copper one said to me: "yea, it's shit. But what ya' gonna do?"

Drug laws are evil and must not be acknowledged as legitimate no matter how much you hate some people

Those some people pay for the politicians that perpetuate the war on drugs because it doesn't affect them personally.

Using state violence as a weapon against those you dislike is always wrong, no matter how hilariously ironic it would be.

Cops won't move for some person using illegal drug in a private party

Let me introduce me to some rural cops that literally have nothing better to do than doing just that.

Laws aren't going to change until rich people start being inconvenienced by them.
remon@ani.social · 3 pts · 341d
Dozens of countries have legalized weed in the last decade and I don't remember any rich people being inconvenienced by weed laws.
Nemo@slrpnk.net · 2 pts · 341d
You don't? Because all the people I knew queuing up to get "medical" marijuana cards had a lot more disposable income than the median.
remon@ani.social · 2 pts · 341d
Not sure if I would say "more disposable income than the median" qualifies as rich. I was more thinking the top <5% or something. Otherwise I'm rich I guess.
Also the “medical” marijuana really never took off here. Almost everyone I know (and quite a few are rich by your standard) just stuck with the black market, even after legalization.

How would you know? Do you keep up with this information?
remon@ani.social · 5 pts · 341d
Because I was hardly inconvenienced by the weed laws and I'm not rich.

Okay, nice anecdote.
remon@ani.social · 3 pts · 341d
There are literally millions of regular drug users in every country that has prohibition. If the average Joe can get away with it, do you think the rich care? Use some basic common sense.
zrst@lemmy.cif.su · 0 pts · 341d
What about the people who don't get away with it?

You certainly wouldn't be invited back

The fucking pigs won't care, and will probably join them, assuming they even show up.
