EDIT: I messed up the hostname when I was installing this. It's supposed to just be "amethyst"; amethyst-ii is my newer ThinkPad T480s.

You can rice anything, if you try hard enough. In this case, though, I did not have to edit a single config file (apart from some stuff under /etc/rc.d to get XDM and wpa_supplicant working).
