I'm not very familiar with anime terminology, so forgive me ignorance.

Yaoi is boy love content.. right? We talk about a female version of a male historical person.

... How do those two fit together? Is it still yaoi if the referenced char is male?

... Or is this just a joke and I am too dense?

You are correct, I implied that I want at least some of those to not be a female version, but a regular male version, engaging in sexy boy love antics

Yaoi can have overlap with the genderbend genre, though I don't think it quite applies here.

Actually, since a fuckton of it is futa I don't know if either really apply here
