North Texas pastor plays AI-generated Charlie Kirk speech during sermon

Jack Graham and Sen. Ted Cruz are among the masses eulogizing the activist with AI.

On Sunday, Sept. 14, a miraculous thing happened at a North Texas church: Charlie Kirk gave a speech despite being assassinated just days before.

It didn't matter that, as Pastor Jack Graham told the congregation at Prestonwood Baptist Church before the speech, it had been completely AI-generated. The fabricated speech got a standing ovation from the congregation. It's unclear who first generated the video, but it was played by three other churches across the country over the weekend, according to Religion News Service. The video appears to have been generated by a prompt asking an AI to create a speech in which the late activist reacts to his own death.

Worshiping false idols something something

Capricorn_Geriatric@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 342d

Each denomination picks its favourite stuff to "worship" in scripture.

Otherwise we wouldn't even have Supply-Side Jesus.

Naich@lemmings.world · 45 pts · 343d (3 replies)

Wow. How tasteful.

I can think of nothing that would offend me more than for someone else to put words in mouth or even to use my likeness to read something I wrote. If I'm dead let me stay fucking dead!

That's true, but that nazi piece of shit loved babbling so much that i'm sure he would love it. Especially when he gets to speak on behalf of his secon favourite pedo club

Blood Supply Side Jesus.

RaoulDuke@sh.itjust.works · 33 pts · 343d (18 replies)

Still laugh that they picked this guy as their leader. With looks like that, you would think he hated god.

Thatuserguy@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 343d (15 replies)

Insulting people's looks is kinda shitty tbh. Judge him for the things he could control, like being an absolutely massive piece of shit, not for things he couldn't

RaoulDuke@sh.itjust.works · 50 pts · 343d (12 replies)

He judged people for their sex, gender identity, race and religion. Fuck his ugly dead ass.

damnedfurry@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 343d (2 replies)

And everyone with a similar appearance to him, then, too, right?

Because that's what you're doing when you insult aesthetics, instead of criticizing the actual substance of a person's actions.

Grow up.

RaoulDuke@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 343d

Nah, just him. Specifically his face.

newthrowaway20@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 342d

No it isn't.

Yeah taking the high road has been so damned effective.

UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works · -12 pts · 343d (3 replies)

There's the high road, and the "not acting like a child" road

Guess which one making fun of his appearance is on?

grte@lemmy.ca · 10 pts · 343d (2 replies)

The low road, which I intend on taking, thanks.

UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works · -9 pts · 343d

No. Tyler Robinson allegedly took the low road.

You're advocating for taking the road of a child. Get it right and be better

He wanted me to live a life of slavery, I don't fucking think so

UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works · -18 pts · 343d

There are thousands of better ways to get back at his legacy than resorting to the most childish option.

mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 343d

he did, so fuck 'im

nothing wrong with using the tools of your enemy against them

Fuck him.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 342d

its fair game when his go-to is targeting and persecuting people for thier looks, and who they are. this includes people who are overweight constantly deriding people who are slim, or being fat is okay.

I actually used to attend Prestonwood back when I was in middle and high school before I became an atheist.

It was clearly in the business of making money, and business was good. Back then they were more careful and subtle about mixing politics and religion, but it was definitely there.

Instead of outright endorsing GWB for President they would say things like: we need to make sure we are electing godly men to make sure we bring faith back to the White House and Congress to get this country back on track.

I haven’t been there in over 20 years but have to drive by it often. Still feel disgusted that I was ever a part of that place. I could see the seeds of Christian nationalism being planted in the youth programs and hear it in the sermons.

He should learn that two bads does not make one good. This is not multiplying negative numbers.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 343d

So, a Nazi church. I remember when xtians pretended they were in opposition to Nazis because something something "they were pagans" or "they were atheists".
