I always liked the idea of Inktober but I don't like how restrictive it is! Drawtober is a much less restrictive October art challenge in that you can use your own prompts and mediums!
I just made a community for Drawtober

Speaking about Inktober, there's this community !inktober@sh.itjust.works

I just don't like the restrictions of inktober, so I made a community for people who want to use crayons or anything else :^)

Good luck, but creating a community is much more difficult than reusing an existing one.
Maybe try to reach out to @sorrybookbroke@sh.itjust.works to see if they would consider lowering the rules?

Hey! No plans on changing the rules from my end. Inktober is a specific event that, I believe, deserves it's own place. I like the idea of a secondary community for something more general so that the rules heavy inktober has it's place and the general art challanges has their own.
Ownership of the community has been changed to Ink though so it is their final say.

You need to make the actual link be the displayed text for the instance agnostic link to work. The actual link in your comment is to https://sh.itjust.works/c/inktober when viewed from any instance.
If you type or paste !inktober@sh.itjust.works into the editor instead of trying to add it as a link it should make it a local link and the displayed text. For instance, this link works differently when I'm logged into piefed vs lemmy.

I raised the issue to @wjs018@piefed.social a few days ago, he's going to work on this so that Piefed parses the links created by Lemmy autocompletion correctly
It is indeed not ideal that Lemmy autocompletion generates improper links, but it's where the majority of the Fediverse users are, and most of them are going to keep using that feature, it's too convenient not to
