And with that short term gain they actively contribute to an environment more welcoming of a special military operation performed on their own country in the long term.

Taiwan is not going to be invaded as long as the chinese think they have more to lose than to gain.
It is going to become tricky as soon as the U.S. is distracted with a major conflict somewhere else.

Every country acts primarily within economic self-interest. Pretending other nations are bad because they don't follow our sanctions is just a farce. Instead we could follow our pretense of upholding values and sanction israel.
