For those keeping score on Firefly Alpha’s track record:

  • Flight 1: failure

  • Flight 2: partial failure

  • Flight 3: success

  • Flight 4: partial failure

  • Flight 5: success

  • Flight 6: failure

  • Flight 7: today’s ground explosion

This compares to Astra Rocket 3.0’s track record of 2 successes out of 9 launch attempts (including ground failures).

Such a Texas video

Junkyard, highway traffic, and textbook mushroom cloud

The junkyard is across the highway from the test site and is where this was obviously filmed. I would also question calling this "Flight 7" as this is a test facility. No flights originate there.

This man beat Calgon and freed Southern Sun, we should trust him.

Certainly lives up to the fire part of the name

Turns out this shooting stuff up without exploding is harder than expected! I thought it wouldn't be so hard, I mean it's not like it is rocket science!

You would not believe your eyes

If ten million fireflies

Lit up the world as I fell asleep

Oh no, I'm developing empathy for Firefly. It sort of stings.
