Pissed I become so despondent/melancholic after my college crush rejected me after she initially said yes when there are so many alternates in this world.
Unrequited love really makes no sense in the age of the internet. We confuse proximity for reality. And the fact of the male libido is it lusts after so many women as clearly evidenced by these games that past a threshold, anyone would do.
The harder problem more than finding a beautiful woman and loving her is really one of compatibility. But I often think I am not compatible with any women.
But I suppose finding a woman, any woman, is difficult enough anyway. Dating apps are their own stupidity. I think the pick-up artists are right about one thing, that it's better to just cold approach and chat-up women. Otherwise, it's impossible to meet anyone outside of school or without common friends, family.
But I suppose better than the pick-up artist schtick, is actually to have a career or side-hobby that allows for you to meet women: cinema, music. The Internet does open up possibilities but network effects and attention economy is brutal that there might actually be fewer opportunities than it seems.
Arranged marriage is another possibility but that's also it's own stupidity. To throw yourself into the arms of another after a few milquetoast meetings, oftentimes zero to one. That worked when people had similar personalities, or cultural expectations, but not anymore. Not to mention the lack of vetting these days, or openness to marry strangers outside of one's circle/vicinity.
But I guess the reality is many relationships are undergirded by money. One has to have money to be loved, to attract attention. But inherent to capitalism is creative destruction, the sweeping away of old forms for new so it is always unstable. See the anxiety of the college graduate or the programmer.
