Israeli soldiers have boarded the Alma vessel, Middle East Eye can report. Alma is a the lead vessel of the Sumud Flotilla. Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories, told MEE.
Albanese said the interception is unlawful under two basic premises. Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip is illegal under international law, Albanese said, adding, "it makes no sense whatsoever."
The flotilla is roughly 80 nautical miles from the coast of Gaza. Territorial waters extend for maximum 12 nautical miles.

idk what you expect to happen when something is under siege? These are just provocations to the Israeli army

I expect countries to do their jobs under international law

I expect the same, don’t get me wrong. To my understanding a siege means that absolutely nothing passes no matter if it’s humanitarian or not. Shouldn’t this be done when it’s not under siege?

The siege is illegal and Israel is never intending to remove it. They claim that it's because of Hamas, but it was implemented before Hamas even took power

It was pre-emptive siege. And i would say it's been vindicated by the later existence of hamas–wouldn't you?

What a BS argument especially when Arab was blamed for starting the 48 war. It is ok when Israel does pre-emptive actions which most of the time it is just a lie but not when Arabs or Palestinians. does it If you put a whole population in an open air prison , naturally Gazans would be radicalized and retaliate , if restricting people fundamental liberties worked , Hamas wouldn't even exist
So, no the six day war was not a pre-emptive war since there was not enough evidence. It was just an excuse to take the rest of Palestine
The blockade in gaza is among the longest blockades in the whole history and have devastating effect on Gazans and it is against international law

Yes its terrible, but hamas eventually existed after years if siege, so obviously they called it.
mrdown@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 351d
Hamas existed because of 77 years of occupation . Israel is the occupier and oppressor and you still legitimate a blockade that only hurt gazan civilians.

Yeah that's the fucking point, it shouldn't be under siege in the first place!

I think you forgot your Israeli flag emoji. Please continue to explain how justified the IDF is in their actions. I mean, it's not like they would deliberately murder children and laugh about it. Or starve people to death. Or systematically level an entire civilization. Or murder journalists who report on it. Provocations... I can't imagine what your bubble reality looks like.

I don't think you're right:
