As an x86 system, the Latte Panda runs Windows 11, along with a simple kiosk software package written in Python. The software uses Google Firebase as a database backend.

This doesn’t feel as Open Source as I expected

It seems like a basic function of a POS should be to be able to accept payment, but I don't see any way for this machine to do that...

I would think of a Point of Sale being more like a cash register or the terminal where a waiter sends an order to the kitchen in a restaurant. Credit card transactions are usually handled by a separate device that connects to the PoS, except for a few devices created by credit card processing companies. It seems like it’s easier ever since the introduction of security chips to hand that off to specialist vendors.

Connects to the PoS

Did you see somewhere to connect a CC machine?

I didn’t watch the video but assumed there’s at least some USB ports on the device based on it running Windows.
