Before cell phones with unlimited nationwide calling, we all dealt with this crap: massive long distance bills.

I learned the hard way that my local dial up Internet provider was long distance. $1000+ of late 90's dollars over two months between AOL and Compuserve. Learned a lot about how the Internet works. Also learned that I worked and saved for months for almost nothing in return.
