Kulturkampf over Jewish identity: a question of language

Instead of being “weak and effeminate” like the Diaspora Jew, the Sabra Israeli Jew ( would be “an ideal of Jewish muscular masculinity.” Some Zionists even suggested replacing  the “weak” word “Jew” with the stronger-sounding “Hebrew man.”

Oh. That is some ironically familiar cant.
