I'm not even a vegetarian but if someone told me to seperate the meat or flesh of an orange and do: blank with it, I would know what they meant. The meat of a potato..I think it may even be a newer concept to refer to me at as only animal flesh.
Yep! And it's the same with milk. Almond milk, called exactly that and made and used exactly as it's used today, predated the middle ages. Literally older than many modern European languages.
When one 'pitches' yeast to begin fermentation, and if one uses too much yeast this can lead to autolysis of the yeast cells, which releases RNA and DNA into the fermented product, which gives a uniquely meat like taste. This was a bit disturbing when I ordered a glass of tepache (fermented pineapple juice). I took one sip, and returned my glass to The Publican. Ick!
