If you defy him you maybe get screwed. If you cave you guarantee a later, more humiliating screwing.

If you cave you lose credibility and respect as an institution.

If the US had a functioning opposition, they'd be telling college presidents that they'll be held accountable for any capitulation to the fascists.

Yeah, that's what we want, political parties just punishing opposite groups every 4 years.
