Except the ones buried there in the last 70 years or so, they are in the anti-antifa section with Lauri Törni, the Waffen-SS Hauptsturmführer who is also buried in there.

Very interesting read! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauri_T%C3%B6rni The guy got stuck in Germany after getting training during the lapland war and then found himself fighting on the east front. I mean he might have been an actual POS nazi but that's not to be read straight from that link.

Americans really need to stop worshiping their military for killing foreigners to help their business leaders buy bigger yachts and more mansions and private islands.

I don't think WW2 soldiers from the U.S. had this in mind at the time when they volunteered to go to Europe and the Pacific. They were country boys.

Reminds me of when George W. Bush rhapsodized about the rows and rows of white crosses at Arlington. Which of course meant that he was thinking about the cemetery in Normandy from fucking Saving Private Ryan.

trumps to troops: "these people are suckers and losers, whats in it for them" and " i dont like people that are captured"

this_1_is_mine@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 331d

By the way just so you know..... Did you know that there is more than one Arlington?

Chill, brah. Just let us remember that one time when we were the good guys.

SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org · 9 pts · 331d (2 replies)

Killing nazis sounds pretty antifa to me

theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com · -1 pts · 331d

what abou the 20% percent of that 400,000 who fought in vietnam or the 5% "war on terror" or the 1% literally genociding natives in "indian wars" or the 20% korean war or the 20% other post ww2 and so on. This maybe holds for ww2 soldiers though even that is questionable.

theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 331d

Anti-fa is short for anti-fascism. The Nazi's in WWII were fascist. US soldiers in WWII killed Nazi's, therefore killed fascists. If that isn't anti-fa, I don't know what is.

Tell me you didn't pay attention in history class without telling me.

theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 0 pts · 331d

Oh yeah maybe you could say this for ww2 vetrans but thats only 30% as high estimate of people in that cemetary

also its innacruate and insuting to call ww2 soldiers anti-fa as a default when it would be shocking if a number of them didn’t also fight in future blantly imperialist wars, or campaigned for segration and so on
