Duffy must be feeling some pressure if he’s trying to trade on Japan’s valor to pump up the Trump administration’s space policy. Why not just congratulate JAXA and leave it at that?

Ha, yeah, but it berths to the American Harmony Node that was built... in Italy by Thales Alenia? Damnit.
The actual American involvement is probably mainly the barter agreement to fly JAXA astronauts in exchange for cargo.

Ha, yeah, but the module's name contains the American word 'harmony', which was first used...in 14th century England...and originates from the french word Harmonie. Damnit.

Man, this administration must really hate the previous administration that came up with the Artemis program to get back to the moon.

It won't stop them from taking any and all credit, don't worry about that.
Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 292d
The Artemis program is such a hack job thrown together pile of jobs in specific representatives' districts instead of an actual plan to get to the moon

Is this Sean Duffy a "space scientist" of some sort, or just yet another reality TV star/news anchor?

He's a space scientist, and not an astronomer or an astrophysicist
edible_funk@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 292d

If you read the vision for global space advancement/leadership as "America left behind and uninvolved" then I guess it kind of makes sense?
