I mean if you're that gung ho to stay within the commonwealth then why the hell would you go to the UK to "avoid" social media ban to a place that is more strict? Why not move to Canada?

whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 292d

too close to the USA?

Corporal_Punishment@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 291d (2 replies)

The law in the UK is that adult sites need to verify an individual's age before allowing them access.

Banning people under a certain age from social media is arguably a lot stricter....

Seems like the Aussies assessed the evidence, figured out that social media does more harm than porn and took the appropriate action. The English worked backwards from the assumption that porn does more harm and allowed social media to continue spreading its poison. Classic English values.

Agree completely. Social media is a fucking blight

Lembot_0005@lemy.lol · 22 pts · 292d

To UK? Good Luck. They should consider trying Russia next. And Glorious Korea after Russia. This family loves running over the rakes...

EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com · 15 pts · 292d

That's certainly a choice

dumbass@aussie.zone · 14 pts · 292d

That's just like moving to corporate because you hate your retail job.

phutatorius@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 290d (1 reply)

What's sad is that fucking influencers are coming here. That's the last thing we need more of.

1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 290d
