NPR did a story on this and to paraphrase from memory, their conclusion was that the definitions vary depending on who analyzes the data. The bigger takeaway was that killings have been more personal and harder to profile as a result.
Like, some might include Luigi in the left category while others put him in neutral category because CEOs aren't political figures. Yet, the Trump ear shot often gets clarified as left violence cause Trump is right, but the kid was seeped in the right culture so that seems misleading.
Suffice to say, it's data ripe for cherry picking when it's not like, an organization doing the killings.
