Maurits Cornelis Escher

Dangit Bobby*, I hadn't seen this one for nigh unto forty year! Yes, and seeing this the other day smacked me right back to childhood, when I was first blown away by Dutch artist Escher's amazing, calculated mirror-surface studies (as above), impossible 3D designs (small sample below), and pleasant, hypnotically-interwoven pattern-morphings (further down).

* Hank Hill from King of the Hill, wandering in to Appalachia, I guess.

Run (don't walk) if this genius' work is somehow unfamiliar to you:

Would Banksy approve this "tesselation?"

Right, and this is an ENTIRELY inadequate posting about an artist I have huge admiration for, but really, I just wanted to share "Puddle," as it's named.

!/c/traditional_art@lemmy.world might be a good place to share this.

I'm a big fan of Escher as well

Communities are linked with the exclamation mark only, without the /c/

!traditional_art@lemmy.world

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 296d (2 replies)

so you can't have someone with the same name as a community on that instance?

Successful_Try543@feddit.org · 3 pts · 296d (1 reply)

No, users are linked with an @ instead of !, e.g. @Successful_Try543@feddit.org links to feddit.org/u/Successful_Try543 .

A community link, e.g. !traditional_art@lemmy.world links to lemmy.world/c/traditional_art .

thanks for the heads up. I guess this is me cashing in all the markdown help I've given newer users.
