I have a uGreen dock for my Steam Deck, but it does not work for my Switch 2. I am looking for a dock that will work for both, preferably something with usb ports for mouse and keyboard for the deck.
I have seen there are some usb dongles that work for both, and that is a last ditch option.

I would look for something that works for the switch 2 as that has proprietary lockout stuff that needs to be accounted for, the steam deck should work with anything that uses the usual standards I think

apparently this is one of the few, if not only 3rd party dock that works with nintendo paperweight

And it doesn’t use a cable so it’s physically incompatible with anything else regardless of whether it would be electronically compatible

Is there some problem that is bricking Switch 2?

No, I think the only problem is that Switch 2 won’t output video via most docks

manufacter is purposely limiting functionality of the device for profit, and in some cases bricking the device because they deem someone isn't using it how they want.
I call it a paperweight for that reason

Doesn’t the Switch 2 dock and an Extension cable work with Steam Deck?

The steam deck will not fit in there.

Thats why he said extension cable.

I don’t know about Steam Deck (so assume it should), but this one works with Switch 2 (and doubles as a capture card).

Will look into it, but I am looking for a dock (a cradle of sorts where I can set the switch 2 or Steam deck) rather than a dongle.

Sure, but remember that a full on dock will make your Switch hotter (unless it’s actively cooled, which the original is not), and that may affect both performance (throttling might cause the games to stutter) and devices lifespan.
