What can I use white polyester curtains for as a visible mending project?

I have quite a bit of polvester curtains that appear to be from the windows of a home we purchased in the Netherlands (Leiden)

l'm just starting a journey into visible mending and haven't made the iump to full sewing. I have no sewing machine (yet).

I'm considering using these curtains as some sort of drop cloths as we paint our house, but they are very sheer and would do a poor job.

They are for windows and they are about 2.5 metres (a little over 8 feet) tall.

I would love some ideas.
