New combined frontpage makes it confusing

So I just opened the front page this evening, and I suddenly see microblog posts mixed in with threads, which seems to be a new feature of the 1.9.0RC1 release. I get why you would want such a feature, but could there be a toggle to choose if you want microblogs on the front page or not? I know https://fedia.io/threads is basically what I want, but it's a different url from what I'm used to, and it's also different from what my browser history pops up if i type an "f" in the adress bar.

small edit: the threads link in the menu bar is also not consistent, sometimes it links to fedia.io/threads but if I click on magazines first, the link goes to the front page fedia.io
