Definitely sucks, but it's exactly the reason I only book directly through the hotel nowadays. Anytime there's an issue, hotel and booking site just blame each other. Leaving you shit out of luck.
This poor lady! I fucking HATE when I can't book my $4,000/night room for the Formula 1 in Montreal! Like...grr! Y'know? My heart goes out to her in these trying times. It's tough out there!

It was also four rooms. So closer to $500/room/night.
So really, not all that absurd a price, especially in a major metro area during a major event.
