I can't prove it, but I'm convinced these companies don't want public transportation cutting into their parking revenue and push to keep public transportation out.

Super spread out? I live in Seattle now but growing up in Phoenix there was a single bus with very limited house when I lived in Paradise Valley (Pheonix).

That's the entire DFW meteoplex. DFW stands for Dallas-Forth Worth, because it's two cities that grew together and consumed everything in between.
