Unfortunately, every government that is in power will not support electoral reform. Only those not in power will come out in favour of it.

The governments did in New Zealand and Ireland. They will be compelled if there is enough public pressure.

If that is the right thing to do to support a more fair electoral system then why aren't we doing it? Are we being held hostage by our elected representative parties by having a substandard process so the position can be held longer, even if you are not very good at your job?

Elite politicians do not like accountability and always attempt to cause electoral reform to fail due to rigged referendums that favour the status quo.
