I'm extremely angry about Sam Altman fucking over the RAM market.
But if there's any silver lining in this shit, it may be that software vendors are forced to spend resources making their code more performant. Probably not, but we can hope.

People like to point at that this is a small issue, but to me it's kind of indicative of everything. It should be simple, so why isn't it? They know how much people want this, how important it is to customize your OS to your wants and needs and they just don't do it. Because they don't have to. It's so disdainful.

Remaking Windows using rust is not the worst idea. But doing it by relying almost completely on AI and an extremely small team (of people who may not be very proficient in Rust), that's nothing but disaster in the making.
P.S. it's not the best idea either, OG Windows code has a fairly solid base if you leave off the garbage the execs like to stuff in to it for "added value".
