What is This All About?
Exactly as the title says. I thought I might as well do this, considering the fact I've always been wanting to make an audiobook, and this was the way I wanted to do it. Why not I give the list of the tools I'm using in order to do this?
Tools Being Used
- Obsidian
- Purpose: Tool used to write Foxing Society, which is my FediWriMo project
- Ardour
- Purpose: DAW being used to record myself reading this (hopefully) masterpiece of literature
- Ollama + AnythingLLM
- Purpose: To aid in revision of my project, with a human touch, so I can let it flow while keeping my voice, prose, style, tense, etc. in check. Since I never used generative AI for this FediWriMo, it was only fair that I did something about using gen AI for assistance of my writing.
Why Post About This?
It's about documenting what I'm doing with my projects, as I fully intend on making this type of thing available. While I may have some of the craziest claims from the reading I've done (mostly outside of mainstream sources for almost anything), fiction is likely how I'll be able to get across why I do what I do, and of course, literature in general might be my way of doing things.
This is a living post, just like the other one I have on digital writing tools, so more will be added as I add some parts of the workflow together.

I get using Obsidian and Ardour -- but I wonder about using Ollama.
This is something that people are going to differ on, but I have strong opinions about how my characters sound. I would want to have strong control over that if I were doing this. It's different when actors and a director are involved. I would only have so much say. But I can look at that as someone else's interpretation of my work.
IMO - using an AI based TTS system would not meet my personal standards.

I was going to experiment with some things, leaving dialog alone. I was going to tell the AI to leave the dialog alone, and do everything else to proofread and recommend things I can do. That was my plan at least.

Oh, using it as an editing process is completely different from what I was thinking. I thought you were using as a TTS type system to read your book for you. (I made a jump because you mentioned Ardour.)

Not to worry. I'll be editing my post once I finish downloading AnythingLLM, which is another Ollama-supported frontend of sorts.
