I'm against this cost saving measure proposed by Newsom's administration. Obesity is a health crisis in the US - It leads to many other health problems. The mentality of "we'll only give you GLP-1 drugs once you get diabetes" seems crazy to me. I wish our governments were able to price negotiate with the medicine's manufacturers instead of cutting it out of the healthcare system for Medi-Cal recipients.

I think American doctors should be allowed to prescribe GLP-1s for anyone obese. I don't want people with eating disorders to get it, so doctor supervision should still be practiced. But America has a huge obesity health crisis that needs to be discussed and addressed. GLP-1s are part of the solution, in my opinion.
