Be careful; they recently chastised me for thinking that as well!
(This comes across as critical of them. I was just trying to make a very mildly humorous observation and I have no negative feelings towards them at all.)
Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel chastised. I've used "fartographer" in various usernames over the years, but it wasn't until joining Lemmy a couple years ago on lemm.ee that people started pointing out cartography vs my intended photography.
When I said "y'all need to quit thinking I'm more clever than I am," it was meant to be an indictment of myself. I came up with "fartographer" nearly 20 years ago and never connected those dots. I probably should have phrased it better as, "I wish I were clever enough to have come up with something like that," since it puts the onus on me instead of you.
Anyway, the point is that I want to offer a genuine apology; I didn't mean to direct criticism towards you. I feel awful that I contributed a negative moment to your day. I was attempting playful banter, but obviously failed.
No, you succeeded. That's why I included the parenthetical insert in my message; I was trying to be silly myself. Sorry for making you doubt yourself! You've in no way harmed me or my mood.
Holy shit, I totally misread that. I write a lot of documentation and mission your first sentence as directions for the reader. I don't even know how I came to that conclusion, especially because the words don't make sense from that perspective, but there it is.
A person far more wise than me would take this as a sign to stop commenting for the night. But I am not more wise than me. The reckless contributions must continue!

Okay, I'm definitely missing something here. I only know "crepitus" as that clicking, grinding sensation I get in my joints. But, your comment, combined with the follow-up comment from the person to whom you responded, in which they said
This isn't where I parked my car!
makes me think that they're referencing proximity, placement, or direction, and I am completely missing the context.
I'm probably taking all this way too seriously, but I'm sooooo lost. What do cartography, creaky joints, and birds have to do with a Texan's ability to understand something? Either y'all are very successfully yanking my chain, or I am perfectly embodying a Texan stereotype of which I wasn't aware.

I wasn't trying to connect any of those things. As far as I know those aren't connected.
