I need some help to figure out how I can search for new communities that are not yet cached on my instance.
If just search by !somecommunity@someinstance or the url, it just comes up empty everytime.
The only app I managed to get this working smoothly from the ones I tried is Voyager.

In theory, you can use the 'Go to community' option from the more options menu and enter the community qualified name without the '!' character.
In the future, I want to add an 'explore communities' option that would search for communities on sites like https://lemmyverse.net

That's the exact option I was searching for!
Thank you so much.
Do you think in the future it could have a character parser to also accept with the "!" character? That would make it a lot easier because it would just be copy-paste from places like lemmyverse.
Keep up the good work!

I understood your case, so I don't know if this will helps anyhow, but I just wanted to suggest https://lemmyverse.net/communities as well.
Really great site to search for communities and instances, with available filtering.

Try community browser: https://browse.feddit.de

I know that there are community browsers, but my point is for, when I find a community I want to subscribe, I want to do it inside the app instead of having to go to my instance's web version.

I support this.

This is going to be my next requested feature to the Connect android app. They are super-reactive, squashing bugs in 24h or less, and adding features as fast also.
