Toasted sourdough pastrami sandwich, with spinach, red onion, avocado, red capsicum, homemade pickles, mayo and mustard. It was decidedly too big to eat in typical sandwich form, so this was how it was consumed.
Wrap form (cos lettuce instead of spinach):

This is why we can't own houses. Look at all that avocado!

It came in our Farmer's Pick veg box. 😁 At peak season, they're $1.29 AUD. They're $2 now.

I find the pastrami to be the most sensual of all the salted, cured meats.

I love it, and it's not difficult to make either. If anything other than sheer tastiness, it helps me drink my daily 2L of water.

I think we should be consistent and call regular sandwiches “closed faced”. Would you like a closed faced ham and cheese?

Am open sandwich is not a thing. It's just bread with stuff on it. A sandwich requires things to be sandwiched. You need to be able to get it all in your mouth at once. A wrap is not a sandwich either. It's wrapped. Not sandwiched. Willing to die on this hill

So, is a hot dog a wrap, then? What if the bun separates into two pieces? Does it transform into a sandwich?

It's a category error. It's not made of sliced bread. A sandwich is made of sliced bread. Not buns, not rolls, not barms not bread cakes. Like a wagon can have 4 wheels but it doesn't make it a car. A sandwich is sliced bread with stuff inside.

Not arguing, I looked up what the different types of sandwiches are, and Wikipedia does include open-faced sandwiches.. So maybe it's just one of those things that are more of an opinion thing, or varies by country?
Though I do agree, that "sandwich", in the traditional sense, is ingredients between two slices of bread.

I guess I'm a structure purist

I think a sandwich is inherently enclosed by bread.
As a counter proposal, can I suggest we call this a "Bread plate meal"?

Gimme a ham'n'cheese and slap a veil on it!
StickyDango@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 223d
Closed-face it is!

It's just so creamy and delicious. I also love red onions in any wrap or sandwich!
