I think he's saying it doesn't belong to anyone, so whoever is strongest can take it. Which will obviously, duh, be the US. Maybe it makes a difference if you land a plane instead of a boat?
Honestly man, if the US army doesn’t start turning on this guy when he’s challenging NATO to stop him from imperializing NATO countries than the people in the US are too far gone to save that country from this IMO.
Apparently whoever is in charge of the actual military are desperately offering him other “enemy” countries to attack because they’re telling him it’s illegal to attack Greenland
So I guess this might be where the illegal order line is actually drawn so we’ll see what happens
Heard an argument from a white guy being anti immigrant & claiming their "right to the land" since their ancestors had been in the US for over 100 years. It was funny and infuriating not to get a retort after telling them they have no real claim to the land since my ancestors have only been here for around 5 millennia (as far as science can tell). Guess the facts hurt their feelings.
The colonial/imperial justification is usually that the 'natives'/'savages' were not exploiting the land to the fullest extent (usually based on agriculture); often calling it 'waste land'.
Therefore, by not exploiting it (enough, or the 'right' way), it 'naturally' belongs to someone (else) who can/will exploit it.
Not getting a response is like due to them not even knowing that much history. That, or you just broke their cognitive dissonance, at least until they changed the subject.
God. Imagine appreciating the nature for what it is. Pathetic. Sickening really. Just looking at it and not wanting to replace it all with parking lots and department stores. Instead they’re just eating incredibly sustainable diets and culturing the land to be prosperous. Morons.

So why does Trump think thats an argument for the US to own Greenland? He hasn’t even done THAT part.

He’s not wrong is the thing. If he decides to take it by force and nobody stops him, its theirs.

True. Nothing to do with how long anyone's been anywhere though :)

Yes, correct.

Unfortunately it wasn't the landing of the boats that laid our claim in the US but the genocide.
NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 223d
Obviously genociding the inhabitants is what means you own the land.
