Red and black colours are naturally associated with danger and something scary. + symbols of variating thickness and shape cause cyclic visual distortion of straight and blurred regions during scaling on a display.

The first thing I think is a universal one and can be fixed by changing colour to orange or any other more calm. The second one may be my personal issue with similar patterns on images.

Thanks for this comprehensive response. I understand way better now. I thought indeed that the repetitive pattern of lines could cause some visual display trouble. I tried it anyway... Since it was working fine on my part.

I like red and black colors. Orange could have been a good option also.

You can do this simply with your keyboard using all kind of special keys and a text editor.

But you can use 2 specialized softwares that simplifies a lot the drawing, giving you an easy and straightforward access to what you need: Pablodraw and Moebius. Both are very similar.
