You know what would be an even bigger "blow" to drug related organised crime? Legalise, regulate and educate so people can choose what they want to do with their bodies. Fucking idiocy.
Authorities dismantled 24 industrial-scale labs and seized around 1,000 tonnes of chemicals used to make street drugs such as MDMA, amphetamine and meth.
No, amphetamine is speed, but not all amphetamines are what you'd call speed. Methamphetamine for example works very differently from MDMA, the effects also differ a lot.
Just because meth is sometimes sold as speed doesn't mean that's what it refers to.
Examples: MDMA can be used in a psychiatric setting for PTSD. Neither meth nor amphetamine are suitable for this. But the latter two are actually legal ADHS medications in the US, which has never been explored for MDMA and I think it also wouldn't be a good candidate.
I'm not sure if I am critical or cynical, but it sure seems to me that the medicine industry embraces productivity-related treatments, than actual mental health.
Last I heard of any MDMA related treatments was the MAPS project, ehich got gobbled up by big pharma.

Most importantly, tax it like you tax alcohol and nicotine to cover societal costs related to drug abuse.

100% that tax money could be used to fund so many positive projects not to mention the money and time saved on the pathetic "war on drugs".
