[Best of 2025] Dessiderium - Pollen for the Bees (FFO Wilderun, symphonic with some harsh vox)

https://dessiderium.bandcamp.com/track/pollen-for-the-bees

Half death/black metal, half symphonic prog. Tons of piano and keys and orchestral hits. Takes a few minutes to get going, but I defy you to not be all in by 9 minutes in with the piano.

I'd add "FFO Devin Townsend" but it's a bit implied by the "FFO Wilderun"

Thanks for the suggestion, I really like Wilderun but I prefer their symphonic parts to their folk parts, so this hits the spot with more "in your face" symphonic/prog metal

Okay, so I’m new to Devin. I’ve heard one thing of his which was described as Disney Metal, and yes, indeed, and it was fun. If I like Wilderun and have some tolerance for harsh vocals (but a hearty love for clean although I’m picky) where should I start?

I love: Anekdoten, Wobbler, Opeth, Symphony X, Wilderun, Ptree, Amorphis, Psychonaut, Cloudkicker, Green Carnation, Ihlo.

Boy, that's a tough one, I don't know how many dozens of album he's done and I love all of them 😅

If by tolerance for harsh vocals, you mean you enjoy it (Amorphis and Opeth have some of the best extreme vocals), I'd say Strapping Young Lad is a good way in. I'd say the Alien album, or the cult classic City.

If you prefer clean vocals with some screams, from his solo stuff I'd say : Infinity, Empath or Terria

Deconstruction is a bit chaotic but with some great guests (and tunes)

Not a fan favorite but Synchestra is one of my 5 CDs to be stuck with on a desert island
