I know I am a day late, but I just discovered this community.
I have two things.
First:
Like a lot of the US, this past weekend we got hit with an ice storm.
My wife and I went out to do some shoveling and a friend of mine’s kid who lives a few house down the street wanted to make some money.
She is about 14 so she came help us shovel.
I made her agree on a price, 20 bucks an hour. She worked so hard shoveling. She earned every penny and OMG it was so nice having her help. It was a hard shovel.
Second:
I am a big Lacrosse Fan. It is a Native American Sport that is very popular in the North East part of the US. My favorite team is the ranked #1 in the preseason polls.

I had a group of students respond very positively to a pretty "out there" activity that would pit their wits against new situations and encourage new kinds of critical thinking. It took a while to explain but in the end they all seemed on board and eager to dive in. It made me smile.
