The internet dies today, or at least it has started.

So I run a DNS whitelist firewall for my main network. Pipepipe stopped working, but no one else here seems effected. I looked at my logs and the only thing blocking is cloudflair ECH. That is the bypass for DNS. It creates implicit trust for all packets from whatever server you are connected to. That means implicit trust of corporate privateer data slavers that exploit and manipulate by selling your digital person. They can forward that connection or proxy to anywhere and you have absolutely no way of knowing. It is the last door of democracy and liberty, and the monsters have begun the siege.

DNS is basically a adressbook for network and internet devices. If you want to go to a website with a human friendly name of example.com, then the DNS service that your computer uses (from your isp, or google, or ...) will connect you to the correct nonsensical ip address. If that DNS service would be hijacked, then there's a lot of potential harm that could be done to your privacy and data.

Now this program apparently uses CloudFlare ECH, but the ECH protocol probably doesn't do what the op thinks it does. "In simple terms, ECH helps keep the websites you visit private, even at the start of the connection, making it harder for third parties to monitor your browsing activity." https://adguard-dns.io/en/blog/encrypted-client-hello-misconceptions-future.html That it's banned in Russia is probably a good indication that it works.

I thought it was just me having problems with PipePipe, sad to see that the internet is breaking

Edit: I fixed my PipePipe issue by logging in to my yt account through the settings, I've only been running it on vpn and it works

Update: it stopped working again :(
