God, I thought those were cigarettes for a split second...

Reminds me of Tom Mullica, he would have loved a cigarette cannoli!

That's the French version of this.

Glad I wasn’t the only one who also thought that.

I'm sure I'm gonna be down voted a lot, but I've gotta say it. Cannolis are just not very good. Like not disgusting but they lack flavor.

toynbee@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 191d

I'm always interested in them because it looks like vanilla ice cream in the middle.

It is not.

pwalshj@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 191d

I'm with you; they're a bore.

tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 190d

Maybe you just don't like ricotta very much? There's also ricotta pie, which is essentially just a cannoli in a different form (ie a crust filled with ricotta), though the filling is stiffer.

Tradizione? Dio merda, sti Americani sono fuori di testa. I piatti non devono somigliare a Monster Truck.

ickplant@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 190d (2 replies)

Triggered an actual Italian! My job here is done.

kora@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 190d (1 reply)

There's always some room for a little drama, you know? It was my moment to shine. More cats, less food that indirectly insults my grandmother, you silly!

ickplant@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 190d

And shine you did! I think Italians complaining about Americans bastardizing their food is a classic.

Heard you on more cats though. Can never have enough cats.

Go eat some pasta with olives and get some sleep, it's nearly time for your fifth nap of the day.

danc4498@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 191d (1 reply)

Do you eat this as is, or remove the canolis and eat them individually?

ickplant@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 191d

I imagine you eat them individually… cause otherwise my mouth is not that big.

lemmylump@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 191d

Leave the gun, take the Cannolis in a Cannoli.

With food like this maybe you should be posting the bmi average.

possumparty@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 190d (1 reply)

yeah Rochester is actually pretty fit tbh.

hector@lemmy.today · -1 pts · 190d

For america? Somewhat less than 50% overweight. Compare that to the birthplace of these canolis, I bet it's like 15% or less overweight, probably less.

morgenman@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 190d

Exactly my reaction!

tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 190d

Blasphemy! Too much crust and not enough ricotta.

Looks like cigarette buds in a roll

hector@lemmy.today · -13 pts · 190d (2 replies)

I don't even know what a canoli is. Am I to take it it's like a chimichonga made out of cupcake?

That's the last thing most people in the US need to be eating, cupcake chimichongas/burritos made of frosting and waffle cones.

helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 190d (1 reply)

So look up what it is before you make a fool of yourself?

Cannoli are Sicilian pastries consisting of a tube-shaped shell of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet and creamy filling containing ricotta cheese.

The filling varies, sometimes it's just a thick frosting, sometimes its a chocolate pudding like thing, and somewhere in NY it's more cannolis.

hector@lemmy.today · -8 pts · 190d

I don't care if canoli enthusiasts think I'm a fool. I think they are fat and disgusting, I wasn't going to mention it but since you brought it up.
