I have! In Brazil we have a project called Tamar which is a sea animal shelter + zoo with loads of teaching guides.
I've gone with my dad several times when I was a kid. One time we touched a stingray (very slimy) and a Nurse shark. Here they are called Sleepy shark / Sandpaper shark because their skin is very course and they sleep a lot. We also got to watch some turtles crack their eggs and get to sea, it was lovely (and kinda boring, they are slow).

Isn't their skin pretty abrasive?

The neat thing is that it depends on the direction you stroke them. In one direction it is very abrasive, but in the opposite it feels very smooth.

So does the Atlanta aquarium. They let you pet stingrays too, so you can feel stronger than Steve Irwin
