I'm actually exhausted at the hypersexualization of media.
I'm not a prude, I'm glad to live in a time where a sex scene can show up uncensored in a TV show. Adult content made for adults, sure, go nuts.
But must everything now have as much sex as possible to sell? Why must every game, every social media feed, every manga, every book, be filled with excessive porn? The problem is not gooner bait existing, the problem is everything becoming gooner bait
I was shown an ad earlier today, talking about how inserting a rectal thermometer into your infant is the closest your husband will get to a threesome. Wildly gross and so unnecessary.
Just turn off NSFW posts. If you do that and have a working ad blocker installed for the rest of the internet, then you should basically never see unsolicited gooner content. Im online a lot and all the NSFW content i see is due to my own decisions. Games, movies, manga, etc all come with ratings and tags to avoid horny shit.
I am unsure if you are asking this seriously, or if this is supposed to be a joke…
but oh well, gooning is a term used to describe masturbation of an individual where they are so much into the practice where it becomes part of their daily life style, you could call it addiction, the term transformed partially into meaning just the act of masturbation.
So Gooner bait, is an image, video, gif, text, etc. which purpose is to arouse someone and more specifically make them want to engage/interact with something, if it is a game they would want to play it, if it is a post they would want to comment or react to it in some way.
Specifically on this platform and on reddit it is usually a post of an attractive person/character which looks feminine (do note that it doesn’t have to be a cis woman) which is designed to bait the viewer to interact with the post, maybe a comment (maybe you have seen such a post with “reply XYZ and get a pic”) or a click unto OPs link which leads to a website where they could see the full (i.e. uncensored or fully pornographic something) sometimes through a paywall, sometimes to mine crypto coins, sometimes to show the person ads; and sometimes all of the above.
On lemmy and this community specifically it is usually some sort of homoeopathically sexual post so that OP can get some engagement for the “number go up” feeling.
If the comment was intended as a joke I do apologise for this lengthy comment, if it was sincere I should note that this explanation is based on purely my understanding

The irony is movies and TV have record low amounts of sex, but the amount of borderline porn I see in gaming, ads, etc. is insane.

And I would like to refer you to https://www.urbandictionary.com/ which is a useful tool to try and understand some slang used.

No idea if the OP was serious or not. Either way I applaud the in-depth definition of gooner-bait.
real_squids@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 199d
gooning is just self-hypno, wider internet ruined it as it usually does lol
OldSageRick@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 199d
Then I apologize for being wrong
Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 198d
Nah, language is fluid and meanings change
fraksken@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 198d
Hey, thank you for your thorough explanation. I don't frequent certain sites, so some slang is just lost on me. Now I get it.
Much appreciated!

Then I am happy to have helped you!

When you are already so immune to this type of bait that you click on it just keep the immunity level.
