US preparing for potential weeks-long military campaign against Iran: Report

The US military is planning for a potential sustained campaign against Iran should President Donald Trump order an attack, two senior US officials told Reuters.

The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, emphasised that the move could trigger a significant Iranian retaliation, risking a prolonged regional conflict which could be far more serious than previous confrontations.

They added, without providing detail, that US strikes would not just target nuclear infrastructure, but also Iranian state and security facilities. US attacks on the country last year primarily targeted nuclear sites.

So he's back on the invasion of Iran like in his 1st term. Crazy to think this would have happened 4 years ago if he'd won.

Who knows. He didn't do it his first term. Biden and Harris absolutely destroying international law is a big reason why Trump can do what he's doing now.

Why are you complaining about Biden? Trump was extremely hostile to Iran during his whole first term. He withdrew from the nuclear deal, then vowed to not let Iran get nukes, and at one pointed threatened them with "obliteration like you’ve never seen before" and "YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE."

Why are you complaining about Biden?

Because he cynically advertised himself as an offramp when in reality he was a boost pad

The war is inevitable. The status quo can't be maintained. Iran would keep arming resistance groups and Israel can't acomplish the greater israel like that. The usa regardless of who in charge would like to take control of the Straight of Hurmuz

A "sustained campaign." An "attack."

That's "war." We call that "war."

Weeks long? How many weeks? like 20 years of weeks?

QinShiHuangsShlong@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 209d

1040 weeks is still technically a number of weeks.
