Google has allowed you to do RCS encrypted messaging since Android 10. But isn't this all still on their proprietary infrastructure, using their proprietary apps, where we just have to trust these two corporations?

Yea, RCS is an ass backwards solution (hardware bound ID... How 1983 of them!).

Well it they hadn't killed off SMS integration because of "engineering costs" (what a load of horseshit), getting people to switch would be easier.
I had to drop Signal because that was the way I could get people to switch.
