One big issue with Linux / SteamOS gaming is a lack of anti-cheat support, and it seems Electronic Arts (EA) have future plans for supporting the platform.
Currently, EA's own Javelin Anticheat does not support Linux platforms at all. As a result games like Battlefield, EA SPORTS FC and various others simply don't work. That may change in future though, especially with the rise of SteamOS / Steam Deck and the future Steam Machine.

A sign, perhaps, that business types see Linux as more than a novelty market demographic in the coming years.

Worst case scenario: they develop the Javelin anti-cheat as a DKMS module which has to be loaded on boot, kinda like Riot Games' Vanguard works

As much as i am happy for those Gamrs that rely on ANti Cheat Games also being able to switch to Linux i also wanna puke my Guts out as i really hate Anti Cheat overall -.-
Anti Cheat has been and always will be the Enemy of Gamers and Gaming as whole >.>

Eww, EA can keep their trash to themselves...I've heard about all the problems that Javelin has and don't want it anywhere near my games. Not that I play EA games these days.
