So many of us are in STEM I feel like we could pool our resources to make it work. Once we've got the land and the religious tax exemption we'd only need to pay the mortgage, food, and utilities. We could grow our own food and set up self sufficient solar/batteries. There's so much we could do together that we couldn't do alone!
