This action absolutely gives the game away. Taking away trans rights is just phase one. They're rolling back protections for all of their citizens using a widely misunderstood minority as their smokescreen.

There are times I wonder if Clarence Thomas is in a DV situation, can't get out, and is just trying to have his marriage nullified by taking the whole ship down with him. Which is the kind of shit that Main Character Syndrome folks pull, which seems apt for him or any of his ilk.
