In the English version of American Dad’s «Aw Rats, a Pool Party!» episode, Avery says he doesn’t speak Spanish. What does he say in the Spanish version?
I haven't seen a single episode of the show, but I have done a bunch of formal translation work. My best guess would be just «no hablo español». It's considered best practice to not really change the source material when doing localizations (unless creative liberties are allowed, of course)
Indeed, this is what they did. Same when Steve works cooking meth for an Hispanic gang under the belief he is in Hogwarts learning magic potions. The magic spell "lavate lasmanos" was used as is in the Spanish dub. It means "wash your hands" for those who didn't get the joke in English.
American dad is great. It started by making fun of bush and America after we lost our minds after 9/11. It's morphed into some kind of surrealist comedy. It's great
They did something different in Scrubs for Carla, who is originally Dominican and there are multiple references in the show about other people not understanding her when she speaks Spanish. For the Spanish dubbing, they say she is Italian and speaks Italian, which is weird because there are many references to her Hispanic origins in the show.
At least that's how they handled it in the European Spanish version, I don't know how it is in the American Spanish version. Because, in case you didn't know, TV shows and movies are usually dubbed to Spanish twice: one version for Spain and another one for the American countries that speak Spanish.

And it would be 100% funnier too, and still on brand for Bullock to say he can't speak the language he's currently speaking.

According to the subtitled version which I downloaded, he says «No hablo ese idioma» or «No te entiendo» depending on the version
