Whenever I do something noisy like use the vacuum or blender, I yell across the house “I’m going to make some noise now, ready? Here it comes!” And then turn on the thing.

As a result, they usually don’t even leave the room if they are in with me. They don't get freaked out, and just go to the top of a tree and watch.

Have done so for decades with about a dozen cats and it has worked with all of them so far. I also give warning when I’m going to turn on the light, because it’s polite to not blind anyone, animal or human.

We have the same procedure in our house, but instead we just shout "loud noises!" and then turn the blender/vacuum/drill on.

When I had cats, I used to give them a little head out before I was about to vacuum and they would leave the room sometimes after I bought out the vacuum.

To this day, I have no idea how I got them to listen to me.

my cats bolt when they see me get the vacuum out. I know, because I just vacuumed (go me!) and they ran. Yes, this was a humblebrag that I vacuumed.

To all you cat/dog lovers out there. You can use the lowest setting on your hoover and end up getting pretty much the exact same results.
You barely ever need to actually blast it on full power. Only if there are some little stones or maybe a gap you need to get into etc.

The sweet little same-face kitty!

My cat acts like its the end of the world and my guinea pigs dont even flinch. I even vacuum inside their cage and have to stop them trying to eat the vacuum.
