I found [this] thread. It looks like you can open the console and type:
dota_enemy_color_r 0
dota_enemy_color_g 0
dota_enemy_color_b 0
and replace the zeros with the corresponding RGB value.

huh, it does look like it doesn't work anymore. Maybe you could try something like Nvidia game filter to increase the contrast on screen/shift the colors?

I mean honestly, this terrain is just horrible for that :D on other terrains this section of the map goes down into the ground, not up above it, making the ward's model actually visible

Yeah, I solved this by changing the terrain back to default

I don't know where or if it's even possible to change that.
But there is a dota 2 github bug tracker, where I think you can bring up the topic.
